CP Rocks the Pop Scene, New Album in the Works After
a big break touring with his pal Tyler Hilton, Curtis Peoples has been
making his way across the country and playing music for the masses.
After a successful 2005 debut EP, Curtis released his first full-length
album "Rock Out!! And Stay Awhile" in 2006. He's just finishing up a
tour with pals Tony Lucca and Keaton Simons and recording his second
full-length album. Lucky for you and I, Curtis was excited to be
interviewed about his upcoming album and the Curly Rock Tour!As we speak, you're getting ready to release your third album, how do you feel like you and your music have evolved since "Rock Out!! And Stay Awhile"? Curtis: I think I've come a lot closer to where I want my sound to be, more upbeat, fun, rocking! What kinds of events inspired your writing on this album? This record is closing the door on a few past relationships and opening the door to new possibilities, the last song the record is called "Exit Scene", it's about starting fresh, beginning again... …Any ideas on a title yet? As of now the record is going to be self titled. Are there any songs on the album that you're particularly excited to release? "Holding Me Down", it's the biggest rock song I've ever written....It takes my sound to a new place ![]() Tony and I have been doing a lot of touring together and we asked Keaton to join us...Once we realized the hair power going on among us, the rest was history :) Have you been playing some songs off of your new album or are you saving them for your next tour?! Yeah, I'm testing them out, want people to get excited about this record. Plus it lets me work out the kinks of playing them live... What's your favorite venue to play? Roxy in LA, Bitter End in New York Your first tour was with your friend Tyler Hilton, and it was really your first huge break – and you've since worked with many other incredible people (Josh Kelley, Ryan Cabrera), do you still keep in touch with the musicians you've worked with in the past? Yeah, that's why I've been able to work with these guys, they became friends and that's when you really make an effort to work together, because then it's just a good time... Is there any chance we'll hear any of them as guests on your new record? Tyler came in and sang on the song "Tell Me I'm Wrong" that I wrote with him and Keaton Simons came in and played acoustic guitar on the song we wrote called "Wake Up" Which artists are currently on repeat on your iPod? The new Matchbox Twenty, a bunch of random stuff, waiting for a record to rock me... Outside of music, what do you like to do for fun? ![]() I love watching movies, and whenever I can get some people together I love to play football. Where do you go and what do you do when you need inspiration? I'll listen to some of my fav Pearl Jam records, go to a big arena rock show, watch a great movie What are your goals for the future? I want to tour with my band as much as possible and get people very aware of my new record Do you have any advice for aspiring singer/songwriters out there? This takes twice as long as you think it does to work, don't get discouraged, every artist that you loved has dedicated years of their life to their career, things don't just happen....
